3 Weeks

Dear Readers,

Alright. Here's what's happened. I thought I had found a way around the evilness on my laptop, but things aren't working 100%.

In 3 weeks I can afford to buy the antivirus I had before and I hope that fixes things.

Hopefully that'll work. If it doesn't then I'll wait until Windows 10 to get a new laptop.

Sincerely,
Gensabi

  1. Look, a new antivirus isn't going to magically fix your laptop. At this point, your best bet is to just reset the whole thing. Make a backup of all your important data and then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

    1. The laptop has multiple accounts. One works but it's having problems now. My main account one went funky. I'm not getting a new one, but the one I had before it expired and I went with a cheaper one that I could afford but obviously didn't have the same level of high quality protection. If it was a Windows problem then all the accounts on the laptop should be doing the same thing. So, whatever happened must be a virus and it must've happened after my antivirus expired and I put the new one on. Reinstalling Windows won't help if I have to do it every month. Maybe I should just retire and say the heck with it. That way no more pic hunting that can get viruses.

    2. There's nothing wrong with any of the anti-virus you are using (or I at least assume so as I don't know which you've been using), you're just gonna have to stop visiting those shady sites. There are plenty of other sites with images you can use that don't give you viruses every time you visit them. If you haven't already, use an Adblock extension/add-on for your browser. A script blocking add-on such as NoScript for Firefox or ScriptBlock for Chrome could help as well.

      Also try going through this:

If that doesn't work, do what the other anon said and back up your essential data then reinstall Windows. This really isn't anything to quit your hobby over.
